Poet’s Corner
Inspired by a poem sent in from an avid reader of Moor Times (see ‘A Word From The Editor’) Poet’s Corner was started to encourage people to send in their most loved poem, whether it be well known or in fact written by themselves it makes no difference. The use of language in poetry, and in song, has always managed to touch people in a way that very few things can and invariably we all have a personal favourite. Here are some that readers have sent in. I hope you like them as well.

White Heat
by ‘C’
A white heat across the plain
Up to the mountains and back again
I needed to escape (it)
But it was impossible
Rain, rain give water
Radiant to our sons and daughter
A white heat visits us now
A kind of reverence and a bow
We needed the rain but got the heat
Give in to it, lie low and be not defeat(ed)
A white heat across the plain
Up to the mountains and back again
Dogs are quiet, cats too
Humans are docile, no birds flew
Time to reflect, take stock of the view
Gather strength, relax, not the time to 'do'
A white heat across the plain
Up to the mountains and back again
