Poet’s Corner
Inspired by a poem sent in from an avid reader of Moor Times (see ‘A Word From The Editor’) Poet’s Corner was started to encourage people to send in their most loved poem, whether it be well known or in fact written by themselves it makes no difference. The use of language in poetry, and in song, has always managed to touch people in a way that very few things can and invariably we all have a personal favourite. Here are some that readers have sent in. I hope you like them as well.

A New Beginning
by Clara
Politicians fighting
Policymakers writing
Vicious dogs biting
WHEN WILL IT CHANGE?
Consumers shopping
Bombs dropping
Traffic stopping
WHAT’S IT ALL FOR?
Oil slick killing
The ocean it’s filling
And carrying on spilling
HOW CAN IT GO ON?
Children dying
Mothers crying
Governments lying
WHY CAN’T IT STOP?
Corruption growing
Discontent showing
Nobody knowing
WHAT’S GOING ON?
Television blaring
‘Look what she’s wearing!’
Everyone comparing
WHO’S GOT IT RIGHT?
We’re sinking in violence
We’re worrying about nonsense
And living without tolerance
HOW CAN WE CHANGE?
Do we need a messiah
A plague or a fire
To make us look higher
FOR A NEW BEGINNING?
