Editor Presses Pause on Moor Times

It is with sadness that I have to put Moor Times on hold for a while

It would be arrogant of me to suggest that it is the apathy of the ex-pats in la Alpujarra that is the reason for temporarily suspending Moor Times. This would imply that what I have produced is what 'la gente' need and nothing else is acceptable. No! I have to admit that I have not quite got it right.

The aim of this project was always about providing a service for the local ex-pat community in la Alpujarra that didn't cost anything. When very few people use that service it is time for reflection and to seek new ideas and ways of doing things.

With this in mind I have paused the whole project in the hope that readers will have a think and perhaps contact me at: editor@moortimes.com or write a comment below and tell me what they would like or whether they want anything at all. I look forward to hearing from you.

Peter Smith

It is surely down to the ubiquity of social media - most notably Facebook.

Hi,I only recently discovered the Moor Times and am sad that it's become the Less Times. If I may make some suggestions that I hope won't sound too condescending or trivial: Of all the rewards that attract participants, humour is probably the most basic ingredient of soul-nourishment. A forum with a good dose of 'spodge' that tickles peoples' fancy, or otherwise, as well as all that sensible stuff (yawn-yawn).... You know, some utterly ridiculous adverts amongst the proper stuff. Did Spike Milligan die in vane? Answers on page 4. Get people involved and contributing anything that bares their souls. He (or she)whose cup does not require topping up with spodgejuice doth dwell in everlasting sadness. Come along poets, p*** artists and potentates, where are you?

I feel a real sense of loss at the closing of the Moortimes, though I can well understand the editor's frustration with the apparent lack of interest. "You don't know what you got till its gone"... "Big yellow taxi took away my old man...! I for one would be very happy to submit regular pieces in the event of its revival, but it seems we need at least half a dozen of us to give any breadth of appeal. Sad Solstice

I am sad to hear this, I am guilty of not looking frequently at Moor Times but felt it was a well produced, interesting publication. We should all try to revive it in the New Year.
